Buying a Pony pad….
My pony Tequilla and I spotted Oak cottage amongst trees and weeds while on a ride. We moved into Oak Cottage, in 2004, age 26. Working as a sales agent by day, Oak cottage was always a full time job to keep alive, we did that evenings and weekends….. a never-ending, on-going labour of love. I realised that the solution would be to make money out of my land………
Working festivals gave me the idea to apply for planning permission to open my land up for running workshops. That’s when I designed and built the structure, a covered area for workshops.
2016 Rowan arrived, a very good all-round handy man specializing in carpentry – came with all the right tools! I employed him to build my sauna, a few jobs later an instant family. Yul was born 2017, Oak born 2018.
The cabin was already on the land when we arrived, used by past owners as musical instrument making space, then artist studio. We tentatively tried Air B&B, people loved it.
So we added a Yurt mounted on a deck over a pile of rocks (my pony rules were - not to take up any grazing space, every blade of grass precious)
The Pony's pushed space three on us. Jake the horse advised the heavy wooden original Gypsy Drey I had bought him was not his desire, he required a modern lightweight braked cart, and on these hills and lanes I hastily agreed with him. So we tarted up and positioned the Gypsy Caravan.
We made the Hideaway hut, it grew upwards from my old hay trailer, we upcycled/used the wood and tin from that, once we had planning permission we sited the Hideaway hut in position to rest as accommodation space.
As soon as lockdown lifted we were able to trade, we had the luckiest, busiest open season, with back to back bookings, with lovely guests who left happy reviews! Thank you Pony's for your guidance x
Please try to book on line now we have the new online booking service.
If you get stuck just phone me or whatsapp me to book accommodation.

Here is a precise what3words address https://w3w.co/sunblock.quirky.chop Oak cottage GL15 6SJ postcode works, we are along way down a Lane outside St Briavels village on St Briavels common. Sometimes sat nav takes people down Hudnalls loop (it is not that way) it is down an unsealed track which is signed ‘restricted byway’. Oak cottage. The track is Between Fayland and Oakwood house. Drive down track, there is a parking spot for you, on your left, find the pink wheelbarrow, for you to use to wheelhouse luggage down to your space. There’s a sign for you on big field gate, walk through the pedestrian gate, walk down field track down hill til you reach camping field. Cabin is first space you see, head down field infront of cabin towards the treeline you will see the Yurt, past the yurt down the hill are the steps down to the Hideaway hut. Relax x.
